In the least shocking news of the century, both the official Mexico national team and U.S. Soccer websites have listed Estadio Azteca as the venue for El Tri’s home World Cup qualifier against the United States.
No official information (start time, TV info, etc.) has been given for the match, but it appears that the venue is set in stone. While this may not seem like news, there was rumor and speculation that Mexico could receive a ban for matches at Azteca for their fans usage of a homophobic chant. There has also been talk of Mexico debating moving their home qualifiers to a different venue citing the fact that the altitude has become more of a hindrance than a benefit to their own team.
