Jasen Rose Leaving UConn

On Wednesday afternoon, UConn Football signee Jay Rose announced that he would be leaving UConn and enrolling at a different school to be closer to his family.

Rose had yet to make an appearance at camp practices with the Huskies, with head coach Bob Diaco saying he was ill whenever asked. Rose was a highly sought-after recruit out of Southington High, picking UConn over offers from Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Maryland, West Virginia, and a host of others. At his National Signing Day press conference, Diaco called Rose a “hallmark” of the recruiting class.

Rose had a chance to see some playing time at the F position, particularly with the departure of Scout Team Player of the Year Billy Williams, who sat out last year due to transfer rules but has since left the team.
