Bill Baron is in his 50th year of coaching.
That's endurance, but what else would you expect from a former long-distance runner?
Baron won his first state championship in 1965 with the Ridgefield cross country team and his fifth in 2008, his 43rd season, with the East Catholic indoor track team.
At 72, he keeps going ... and learning, from attending conferences, studying new methods and reading books on running. He keeps teaching and winning.
"It is in your blood," Baron said recently. "I guess you could say I don't really feel like this is work.
