As a cold rain fell on the state on Monday, wiping out much of what was supposed to be Day 1 of the spring high school sports postseason schedule, the CIAC decided to push ahead with the Class L and S boys and girls state track championships.
Both meets were halted shortly after they began. The L meet at Middletown High was called after just seven events; the S meet at Willow Brook Park in New Britain after nine.
Bloomfield girls coach Anne Burrows, coach of the defending Class S champs, got right to the point after her meet was finally postponed.
