UCF hurt by loss, proud Knights pushed Maryland to double overtime

The UCF football team landed more of the big punches against Maryland during a nearly four-hour slugfest Saturday night.

But the biggest hit the Knights (1-2) endured was self-inflicted. In double overtime, freshman quarterback McKenzie Milton fumbled the ball as UCF stood just three yards away from a victory. It was the final devastating blow during a 30-24 loss that featured six fumbles and three turnovers by the Knights.

Maryland held on to its undefeated record, improving to 3-0.

"It's hurtful," UCF linebacker Shaquem Griffin said. "We're passionate about this game and we wanted it bad and you could tell because we were willing to fight no matter how many overtimes we went.
