UCF fans got their first look at the new statue honoring former coach George O'Leary as they entered Bright House Networks Stadium Saturday.
While some have criticized O'Leary after he opened and closed his career with winless seasons, fans strolling by the statue before kickoff highlighted O'Leary's work leading the Knights to conference championships, bowl wins and academic success.
Kay Harris, 52, of Chandler, Ariz., said that despite her limited experience with the UCF football program, she knows O'Leary had a huge impact on the school. Her nephew, redshirt freshman wide receiver Alex Harris, plays for the Knights.
