Former UCF receiver Tre Nixon showcases perseverance heading into 2021 NFL Draft

For former UCF wide receiver Tre Nixon, the 2020 football season was a test in perseverance: from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows all felt through the space of a 28-minute window.

Rewind to the season opener against Georgia Tech on Sept. 19 in Atlanta where UCF jumped out to a 21-7 lead midway through the second quarter. With 2:17 left in the first half, Nixon hauled in a 25-yard pass from quarterback Dillon Gabriel for another touchdown — his second of the half — before rolling to the turf.

As teammate celebrated, Nixon remained on the ground as the training staff worked on what would turn out to be a broken collarbone.
