Senior infielder Mary Warren stands in the batter’s box. With two outs and two strikes on her, the pitcher winds up to deliver the pitch. Warren smacks the ball and launches it for a home run.
Originating from Ococee, Florida, Warren began her love affair with softball by playing baseball when she was about 7 years old. At a young age, she said her dad literally dragged her to softball signups.
She kicked and screamed all the way there.
“I did not want to play softball,” Warren said. “I wanted to stay and play baseball.
