University of Tulsa guard Sterling Taplin was named the American Athletic Conference's Men's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced today by the league office.
Taplin, a 6'1" sophomore, averaged 15.5 points, 5.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.5 rebounds, while shooting 55-percent from the field and 50-percent from three-point range in wins over Memphis and Temple last week.
On Wednesday, Taplin scored a career-high 17 points, while adding six assists and two rebounds in an 81-71 win over Memphis. Against Temple on Saturday, it was Taplin's driving layup with 0:04 left on the clock that was the game-winning basket for the Hurricane in a 70-68 road win.
