The Dothan Eagle has confirmed rising redshirt sophomore defensive end Uvakeious McGhee is no longer with the Troy football program.

A Troy spokesman said McGhee has been granted his release from the program. McGhee, who is from Montgomery, played in 10 games this season as a backup to graduate transfer Junior Gnonkonde.

McGhee registered nine tackles and one quarterback hurry in 2016 after redshirting in 2015. He would likely have been a part of the competition to replace either Gnonkonde or Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year Rashad Dillard, another defensive end who has exhausted his eligibility.
