Troy pitcher Austin Crook earns 14 strikeouts as Trojans beat No. 15 ULL

TROY – Saturday’s game between No. 15 Louisiana-Lafayette began bizarrely, then it was just “Crooked.”

Troy lefthander Austin Crook dominated most of the game, registering 14 strikeouts in leading the Trojans to a 7-5 victory over the Ragin’ Cajuns. The last time a Trojan pitcher struck out that many batters came on March 14, 2015, when Grant Bennett achieved the same number against Georgia Southern.

"The kid pitched his tail off and was able to earn the win today,” Trojans head coach Mark Smartt said. “Really proud of how he pitched.”

ULL (12-9 overall, 3-2 Sun Belt Conference) struck for two quick runs off Crook in an odd first inning.
