TROY, Alabama – Former Troy women's basketball player Sophie Kleeman captained the Newcastle Hunters to the 2016 Molton Waratah League title with a 55-50 win over the Illawarra Hawks on Sunday.
The win avenged a loss to the Hawks in the next to last game of the regular season; it was the only loss the Hunters suffered as the squad finished the year 17-1. Kleeman, who played for Troy from 2009-13, was named a Waratah League All-Star while averaging 14.2 points in 18 games.
The Waratah League is a semi-professional basketball league in New South Wales, Australia.
