Rene Meulensteen has revealed that he slid a letter under Sir Alex Ferguson's door, which eventually led to him becoming Manchester United's first team coach.
The Dutchman served as first team coach under Sir Alex between 2007 and 2013, having previously involved in the youth set-up at the club.
Meulensteen, speaking on talkSPORT, revealed he had initially been recommended to the Red Devils' legendary manager by Tottenham and Scotland great Dave Mackay.
He said that Sir Alex had called him during his spell in Qatar with Al-Sadd and agreed for him to come to England during a break.
