Raptors step up with Scottie Barnes down to beat Knicks and stay undefeated on the road

Perhaps the person least surprised by some of the plays Svi Mykhailiuk is making with the Raptors this season is his teammate, Fred VanVleet.

As a teenager, a player and something of a scout back in those days, VanVleet knows the depth of talent Mykhailiuk possesses.

The dribble-behind-the-back drive and dunk Saturday; the right-side drive with a left-handed finish over a defender.

“I’ve seen it,” VanVleet said. “I was (a college player) at Wichita State, so I followed Kansas pretty closely. So I remember.

“I saw the talent. We see it in spurts, and again (Mykhailiuk’s) one of those guys who has a lot of upside, so (we) just try to find ways to help him and allow him to be more consistent.
