NBA Awards: Kyle Lowry finishes 8th in Teammate of the Year voting

Kyle Lowry’s surly on-court demeanor and curtness with the media apparently don’t make him any less likable among his peers.

At Monday’s NBA Awards, Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki took home the Tyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year award; Lowry finished eight in voting, fifth in first-place votes with 31.

Lowry finishing so high in a league-wide vote obviously speaks highly of his reputation around the NBA. You could also construe it almost as a mild surprise considering the curmudgeonly brashness he appears to carry himself with from an outside perspective.

Evidently, you don’t need a to be a walking teddy bear to be respected and well-liked.
