23 days of Toronto Raptors history: Jurassic Park opens

From 2008-2014 the Toronto Raptors experienced a five season playoff drought. A Five season drought is not certainly not unprecedented, the Sacramento Kings haven’t made the playoffs in 12 seasons. But in a league where more than half the teams make playoffs, it can feel like an eternity.

In 2010, nearly right in the middle of that drought, the AAC installed a massive video screen outside the arena. The area is officially named Maple Leaf Square. Since 2014, it’s been known as Jurassic Park.

In 2014, the Raptors earned the three seed. A steady turn-around since Dwane Casey’s arrival, Toronto appeared to be trending upward.
