The Devils parted ways with Conte in July after general manager Ray Shero and Conte had conversations that ultimately ended in a mutual separation.
Conte himself didn’t dismiss the idea of coming to Toronto in late July.
“I’d be foolish to pretend that (job) would not have great appeal for me,” Conte said, when reached at his home in New Hampshire on Friday.
