Toronto Maple Leafs Player Preview: Brooks Laich

The Toronto Maple Leafs aren’t a final resting place for Brooks Laich, but his 2016-2017 season will have an impact on the rest of his NHL career.

The reality is that Laich is still a serviceable fourth line player and one that the Toronto Maple Leafs have no choice but to play – which isn’t a bad thing, for one year.

Defensively, his production with the Leafs (21 games) is similar to what Frederik Gauthier (7 games) did during their stints in 2015-2016. With Gauthier clearly not ready for the NHL just yet, Laich is a viable option.
