Toronto Maple Leafs News: Fraser Released, Babcock On Cuts

Not long after the Toronto Maple Leafs cut the 28 year old blueliner, he signed with the inter-provincial rival Ottawa Senators.

Personally, I think it’s a great cut by the Toronto Maple Leafs. There was no place for Mark Fraser on the Leafs blueline, and that’s with regards to his skill level and the Toronto Maple Leafs current number of defensive bodies.

Fraser just doesn’t play at an NHL caliber level, and I’m pretty shocked he got a contract so quick. With Fraser’s release, that makes Brad Boyes the lone PTO player to receive a contract offer from training camp, with Glencross and Setoguchi already released.
