Michael Grabner's breakout with New York Rangers no surprise to former Maple Leafs linemates

TORONTO -- Michael Grabner scored nine goals in 80 games for the tanking-for-Auston Matthews Toronto Maple Leafs last season.

While seeing the now-29-year-old winger on pace for a career-high 35 goals this year with the New York Rangers might come as a shock to many, it was not so unforeseen to anyone here in Toronto.

"I'm not surprised at all,'' said Maple Leafs center Nazem Kadri -- Grabner's former linemate -- on Thursday. "He had a ton of chances last year. It seems like he had a breakaway every single game.
