Auston Matthews breaks Wendel’s Leafs record

Auston Matthews has made Toronto Maple Leafs franchise history. In tonight’s game against the Florida Panthers he beat ex-Leafs goalie James Reimer with his 35th goal of the season, breaking Wendel Clark’s record of most goals in a season by a rookie of 34 goals.

Matthews scooped up a loose puck that Hyman lost the handle of trying to pull a wrap around. Matthews ripped it right past Reimer.

The goal comes with Clark in the house for the game. With him watching the game, and on home ice, it’s a pretty nice way to break the record of a Maple Leafs legend, isn’t it?
