Maple Leafs sign Panik to one-year deal

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the club has signed forward Richard Panik to a new one-year contract.

Panik, 24, recorded 17 points (11 goals, six assists) in 76 games with the Maple Leafs after he was claimed off of waivers from the Tampa Bay Lightning on October 9, 2014. In 75 previous NHL games with Tampa Bay, the Martin, Slovakia native collected 22 points (eight goals, 14 assists).

Panik was originally selected by the Lightning in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
