Cooper handed one-game suspension for kick

Armando Cooper’s Toronto FC career has hit a bump in the road before it has really got started.

The Panama midfielder has been handed a one-game suspension for violent conduct and fined after needlessly kicking out at Felipe during the 3-3 draw with the New York Red Bulls.

The incident occurred while Felipe was down awaiting treatment for an apparent injury.

It’s hardly impressive stuff from Cooper, who could have been in line for more minutes against the Philadelphia Union this weekend, particularly with Marky Delgado looking in need of a rest.

Instead, he will sit in the stands and attempt to earn back Greg Vanney’s trust in the final four matches of the season.
