While there isn’t a team in baseball that can’t be improved by making the right moves at the non-waiver trade deadline, the Blue Jays’ uniformed people are not wishing and hoping as the August 1 target date looms.
“I like the group we’ve got,” manager John Gibbons said Monday prior to the opening game of a three-game series against the San Diego Padres.
“Something might happen, something might not. I know (general manager Ross Atkins) is talking with all the guys you hear about, the guys whose names are thrown around. Now, whether anything matches up, whether you have the right guys that they want, or what have you.
