Manager Charlie Montoyo anointed reliever Derek Law as the interim closer while Ken Giles is away from the team on paternity leave. Law had been lights out having not surrendered a run in his last 14 appearances until last night’s meltdown.
The 28-year old has already accumulated three saves thus far this season and should be in line to grab a couple more if he can shake off his blown save versus the Dodgers.
