MLB notebook: Marlins’ Stanton blasts teammates for lack of ‘fire’

Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton, frustrated with the 3-8 start to the season, questioned the team’s “fire.”

Stanton, who homered for the second straight game in Friday night’s 4-1 loss to the New York Mets, said the Marlins need more intensity.

“We’re not giving ourselves a chance, it feels like,” Stanton said after the game. “We’ve got a positive vibe, but it is just not there. The fire is not there, it seems like. You always want to leave it. But you’re out there, and it’s game time, it’s just nothing there -- it seems like.

“The game is nine innings.
