The Celtics are proving that they’re better off without Isaiah Thomas

When Brad Stevens took over as the coach of the Boston Celtics in 2013, he aimed to install an offense that was predicated on ball movement, mismatch utilization, and selfless play.

Stevens didn't inherit a superstar when he arrived in Boston, so he didn't install a system built for one.

The progress of the Celtics has been steady and incremental since Stevens took over, but the selfless, ball-moving basketball that turned the Celtics into a rising power in the East and earned accolades from the likes of Gregg Popovich and Steve Kerr, disappeared, little by little, over the last two seasons.
