Texans bench Brock Osweiler after poor start against Jaguars

The $72 million man is now an expensive clipboard holder.

The Texans benched starting quarterback Brock Osweiler in the second quarter of Sunday's home game against the Jaguars.

Osweiler was 6 of 11 for 48 yards with two costly interceptions that led to 10 Jacksonville points. The Jaguars jumped out to a 13-0 second-quarter lead and Texans coach Bill O'Brien had seen enough.

Tom Savage replaced Osweiler and immediately led an eight-play, 75-yard scoring drive that ended with a 2-yard Akeem Hunt touchdown run. Savage attempted just one pass on the drive, but it was a 32-yard completion to Wendall Williams that got the Texans to the Jaguars 16-yard line.
