Sprint Cup's channel surfing should be over, if peacocks allow

NASCAR's rain fiasco at Bristol is history, and forecasters expect a pleasant weekend ahead at Michigan.

There are other silver linings for racing fans, who came out of a confusing array of time/date/channel changes. Hey, apparently a lot of people now know where to find CNBC on their television package.

This weekend's race at Michigan and next week at Darlington are the last calls before the National Football League rears its head and pulls viewers away. Sure, there are preseason games. But the real NFL avalanche begins on Sept. 11.

So this will be the last Sunday afternoon race for which NASCAR has no NFL competition.
