The triple jump world champion Teddy Tamgho was set for surgery and it is doubtful he will be able to defend his title in August after rupturing his Achilles’ tendon in the season-opening Diamond League meet in Doha, Qatar. He is unlikely to recover in time for the worlds in Beijing.
