Alberto Contador of Spain extended his overall lead at the Giro d’Italia by seven seconds by finishing third behind the winner Mikel Landa during the mountainous 15th stage.
Contador finished five seconds behind his countryman Landa but edged out his closest challenger, the Italian Fabio Aru, to earn valuable time. Contador extended his overall lead on Aru to 2 minutes 35 seconds.
