DUESSELDORF, Germany (AP) — Bastian Schweinsteiger says a move to a Major League Soccer club in the United States is an option if he cannot regain a place in the first team of Manchester United.
The midfielder spoke on Tuesday, one day before his 121st and farewell match for Germany in a friendly against Finland. The outgoing captain announced his retirement from international duty after a loss to France in the semifinals of the European Championship last month.
Schweinsteiger helped Germany win the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
But at club level, he has been dropped from United's first team by new coach Jose Mourinho.
