Roundup: German Spurts From Fifth to First in Slalom in Japan

Felix Neureuther of Germany won a men’s World Cup slalom in Yuzawa, Japan, on Sunday, edging Andre Myhrer of Sweden.

Neureuther, fifth after the first run, clocked a time of 56.96 seconds in the second run to finish 0.05 of a second ahead of Myhrer. Marco Schwarz of Austria was third, 0.24 off the pace.

A FOURTH LUGE TITLE The Olympic champion Natalie Geisenberger finished fourth at a luge World Cup event in Altenberg, Germany, to claim her fourth successive overall title, while her German compatriot Tatjana Hüfner clinched her first European title.
