Medical experts want Rio Olympics postponed or relocated

A group of 150 medical experts signed a letter, directed to World Health Organization director Dr. Margaret Chan, calling for the postponement or relocation of this summer’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro because of risks associated with the Zika virus, ABC News reports.

Chan said last week that despite her organization’s concerns about Zika, it was not recommending the Games be postponed, canceled or moved.

The experts, whose names are on the letter, believe the WHO’s decades-long partnership with the International Olympic Committee constitutes a conflict of interest.
