Nearly one year after being fired as head coach at Illinois for alleged abuse and misuse of power, Tim Beckman is back in college football as a volunteer assistant with North Carolina. Yet despite the controversial addition to his staff, UNC coach Larry Fedora is supporting Beckman.
"I don’t believe everything I read, all right," Fedora said of Beckman, via The News & Observer. "I know Tim. I know his side of the story, also. So I was comfortable with it. If I wouldn’t have been, obviously I wouldn’t have brought him. I wouldn’t have allowed him to be in our program.
