Jeremy Mincey retires; D-lineman wanted to return to Cowboys, turned down other offers

Defensive lineman Jeremy Mincey had every intention to continue playing football after undergoing offseason elbow surgery, but after the Cowboys didn’t show interest in re-signing him, the nine-year NFL veteran decided to retire.

Mincey, 32, announced the decision Tuesday on his Instagram account.

Originally a 2006 sixth-round draft pick by the Patriots, Mincey was waived at the end of his first training camp. He ultimately landed in Jacksonville and posted a career-high eight sacks with the Jaguars in 2011.

The University of Florida graduate also played on the 2013 Broncos squad that reached Super Bowl XLVIII.
