Illinois athletes suspended for allegedly vandalizing Jewish center

Two Illinois student-athletes have been suspended for their alleged involvement in vandalizing an on-campus Jewish center.

Sophomore softball player Ruby Rivera was suspended indefinitely and an unnamed men’s gymnast was suspended for two competitions, the Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday.

The menorah outside the Chabad house at the school’s Champaign campus was vandalized for the third time in 10 months on Sunday morning. Surveillance video caught a man and a woman breaking off the arm of the nine-foot statue.
