Earnhardt Jr., Johnson, several other contenders crash out of Sprint Unlimited

An early crash took Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick and a couple of other drivers out of contention Saturday night in the Sprint Unlimited at Daytona International Speedway.

A later crash took out six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson.

The first crash began in the middle of the pack on lap 21 as the field headed into Turn 1. Brian Vickers, subbing in the No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet for the injured Tony Stewart, appeared to have a right-rear tire go down.
