Duffy headed to DL with strained oblique

The Royals’ season just got a bit tougher as starter Danny Duffy is headed to the disabled list for an estimated six to eight weeks with an oblique strain.

Duffy injured his oblique covering first base in the Royals’ 10-1 loss to the Cleveland Indians on Sunday. Duffy allowed six runs on nine hits over four innings in Sunday’s game.

Duffy and starter Jason Vargas have been leading a struggling Royals starting pitching staff this season. Duffy has a 3.54 ERA over 68.2 innings in 11 starts this season, compiling a 4-4 record.

Ned Yost says Danny Duffy "just wasn't sharp" in the #Royals' loss to the #Indians today.
