Capitals' Mike Richards has drug charge stayed by Canadian court

Capitals forward Mike Richards' legal woes are essentially over after a Canadian judge stayed a drug charge filed against him last summer.

CBC reports the stay means prosecution has been discontinued but not officially dropped, though reinstatement of charges at this point would be unusual.

Richards, 31, was arrested last June as he crossed from North Dakota into Manitoba. He was in possession of oxycodone at the time, according to court documents.
