Status of David Wright’s Rehab Is Still Hanging Over Mets

LOS ANGELES — On Mondays, David Wright typically meets with Dr. Robert Watkins, a back surgeon, and undergoes a series of tests for his spinal stenosis. Wright has not yet passed Watkins’s tests.

He still wears a back brace at times. He still feels stiff at times. And he cannot resume baseball activities until he passes the tests. So, the Mets do not know when he will return.

“I’m hopeful that he’ll be back this season,” General Manager Sandy Alderson said Friday. “Can’t say that we’re planning on it, because, you know, there’s just too much uncertainty.
