St. Petersburg (United States) (AFP) - Cleveland Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco was one strike from a no-hitter before his historic bid was foiled Wednesday in an 8-1 Major League Baseball victory over Tampa Bay.

The 28-year-old Venezuelan right-hander settled for a one-hit triumph after tossing 8 2/3 hitless innings and taking Joey Butler to his final strike before the Rays' left-fielder lofted a single over Cleveland second baseman Jason Kipnis.
