TOLEDO, Ohio - The Rockets led by four after the first innings, but were ultimately defeated in 11 innings, 7-4, by Mid-American Conference opponent Northern Illinois on Saturday afternoon at Mercy Field.
Toledo (5-17, 0-2 MAC) jumped at their initial opportunity and scored in the first inning for the second-straight game. Junior Brad Boss opened the half inning with a walk and sophomore Riley Campbell reached on a perfectly placed bunt single. Junior Matt Hansen walked to load the bases and junior Dalton Bollinger hit a fly ball to center field, deep enough to score Boss from third.
