TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo senior Grant Umberger was named Mid-American Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday following his outstanding start this past weekend in Game One of the Rockets' series vs. Kent State.
A Chester Springs, Pa. native, Umberger fanned a career-high nine batters and allowed just four hits and one walk in six scoreless innings to propel Toledo to a 12-1 victory over the Golden Flashes in Game One of Saturday's doubleheader. The victory helped the Rockets win their fifth of six Mid-American Conference series this season.
Umberger registered two strikeouts in each of his first four innings and then didn't allow any hits in his final two innings.
