Texas Tech Football makes a fantastic hire in Joe Robinson

This week, Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury pulled off a major coup in hiring veteran assistant coach Joe Robinson to be the Red Raiders’ new special teams coach. The 55-year-old native of Abilene, Texas brings an impressive resume with him to the South Plains.

Robinson has been coaching since 1986 and has been a college assistant coach since 1989. Along the way, Robinson has coached at Louisiana Tech, Southern Mississippi, Houston, Central Florida, Arizona, LSU (his alma mater), North Carolina and most recently South Carolina where he spent the past four years.

In 2010, FootballScoop.com named Robinson the national special teams coach of the year.
