Texas Tech defensive coordinator David Gibbs vowed to increase the number of takeaways the Red Raiders procured, and he made good on his pledge in his first season.
Tech improved from 15 turnovers gained in 2014, tied for 107th in the FBS, to 25 turnovers gained and tied for 24th last season. The Red Raiders haven’t kept it up.
Since coming up with three takeaways in the season opener against Stephen F. Austin, the Red Raiders have only two in the last six games, and those two were in the last seven minutes of a 55-19 victory against Kansas.
