The Indians acquired catcher Chris Gimenez from the Rangers on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations.

A seven-year veteran, Gimenez hit .255 with five home runs and 14 RBIs in 36 games for the Rangers last season.

Gimenez will begin his third stint in the Indians' organization. He was drafted by the club in the 19th round of the 2004 Draft.

To make room for Gimenez, the Indians designated catcher Adam Moore for assignment.

Gimenez was activated from the 15-day disabled list and designated for assignment by the Rangers on Tuesday to make room for catcher Bobby Wilson, who was acquired from Detroit.
