Source: Rangers re-sign outfielder Carlos Gomez to one-year deal

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. - The Rangers got their center fielder late Tuesday night, agreeing to a one-year deal with Carlos Gomez, according to a major league source.

The deal, worth $11.5 million, solves the Rangers’ biggest issue of the winter meetings: Filling what appeared to be a very large hole in center field. It also now gives them more opportunity to get creative with their outfield situation. The deal is still pending a physical.

By re-signing Gomez, who spent most of the final five weeks of last season as the Rangers’ left fielder, the Rangers have a full outfield with Shin-Soo Choo in right field and Nomar Mazara in left.
