Rangers' raging strikeout virus rears its head as Charlie Morton shows no mercy

HOUSTON -- Baseball rules call for a team to get 27 outs in a regulation nine-inning game.

The Rangers are giving away about 10 of those outs per game without putting the ball in play.

Their raging strikeout virus showed no signs on Saturday of being brought under control. The free-swinging Rangers had 16 strikeouts -- 14 against starter Charlie Morton -- in a 6-1 loss to Houston at Minute Maid Park.

Shin-Soo Coo, Joey Gallo and Rougned Odor each had three strikeouts. Odor has five strikeouts in six at-bats since returning from the disabled list.
