Rangers losing grip on 'significant' home-field advantage

ARLINGTON -- Can the Boston Red Sox finish the season on a 17-game winning streak?

If that rare feat comes to pass, the Rangers will not finish with the best record in the American League, and they will not be guaranteed of having home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

The Rangers gave the Red Sox a sliver of an opening on Monday night with an 8-3 loss to Milwaukee at Globe Life Park. Martin Perez allowed as many runs (8) in seven innings as he had in his previous four starts combined.

At 92-65, the Rangers trailed Boston by ½ game for the AL's top record.
